Finding the right yoga gear shouldn’t feel like homework.
We started Yoga Gear Here because we kept running into the same problem: too many options, too many vague reviews, and not enough honest guidance for people who are just getting started. Whether you’ve never unrolled a mat in your life or you’re a few months in and wondering if your setup is holding you back, this site is for you.
What We Do
We research, compare, and review yoga equipment — mats, blocks, straps, bags, bolsters, and more — so you can make confident buying decisions without spending hours reading conflicting opinions online.
Every guide on this site is built around one question: what does a real beginner actually need? We cut through the marketing fluff and focus on specs, durability, and real-world use. You’ll always find:
- Clear recommendations organized by budget and use case
- Honest trade-offs — we tell you what each product doesn’t do well, not just what it does
- Beginner-friendly explanations of the gear jargon (what does “open-cell” even mean?)
- Regular updates as products change, improve, or get discontinued
Who’s Behind This Site
Yoga Gear Here is run by an independent team of yoga enthusiasts and gear researchers based in the U.S. We’re not a big media company, and we’re not sponsored by any yoga brand. We pay for products ourselves or borrow them from our community to test — no free gear in exchange for positive reviews.
We believe the best gear advice comes from people who actually use the stuff, understand what beginners struggle with, and have no financial reason to steer you toward the priciest option.
We only recommend products we’d genuinely suggest to a friend starting yoga for the first time.
How We Research
We don’t just read other reviews and repackage them. Our process for every buying guide includes:
| Research | We study specs, materials, and manufacturer claims across every major option in a category. |
| Community input | We gather feedback from yoga students, instructors, and community members who have used these products in real practice. |
| Expert review | Where possible, we consult yoga instructors and certified trainers for input on alignment, safety, and practical use. |
| Ongoing updates | We revisit our guides regularly. A recommendation from a year ago may no longer be the best option — we update when it matters. |
A Note on Affiliate Links
Yoga Gear Here earns a small commission when you purchase through links on our site — at no extra cost to you. This is how we keep the site running and the content free.
Our affiliate relationships do not influence our recommendations. We have no arrangement with any brand to feature their products, and we are not paid to write positive reviews. If a product isn’t good for beginners, we say so — and we’ll point you somewhere else.
For full details on how our affiliate relationships work, see our Affiliate & FTC Disclosure page.
